Latest Lasix snafu: Horse scratched after getting treated twice by state vets

In another snafu involving Kentucky’s new program mandating that state-employed veterinarians give all horses their pre-race anti-bleeder medication shot, a horse was scratched from Sunday’s 10th race at Churchill Downs after being treated twice.

Trainer Michael Lauer said a state vet came to give Booby Prize his Lasix shot and another vet gave the gelding a second shot about 25 minutes later. “It’s unbelievable,” he said. “Only in Kentucky.”
