Turf course could be used at the Fair Grounds this week, provided showers stay away

Off-turf has become ingrained in the Fair Grounds lexicon lately. But the exclusion of turf races at the track looks like it’s finally coming to an end.
The Stall-Wilson turf course hasn’t been used since Feb. 2 and turf races have been run sparingly since January. A wet winter has kept the course too soft to use.
Fair Grounds vice president Eric Halstrom said the turf course should be available starting Sunday, provided it doesn’t rain. Showers are expected Sunday and Monday, so the relief might be short lived.
