Bill would prohibit anti-bleeding drug in NY horseracing

Sen. Thomas Duane is looking to stop the bleeding, both literally and figuratively, that has permeated the horse racing industry since the 1970s.
The senator announced last Wednesday that he will push legislation (S.5887) that will ban the use of performance-enhancing drugs on race horses, particularly the diuretic Lasix (Furosemide), which is used to staunch nosebleeds suffered by the horses.
