Breeders' Cup Fans: Race Times And Wagers Announced

The 2013 Breeders' Cup to be held as Santa Anita November 1st and 2nd has announced the race schedule and type of wagers for each race.

Breeders' Cup is always an interesting day of racing. Many of the races are filled with unknowns, mainly foreign horses with no U.S. running lines. Then there are those races that are so competitive that 7 or 8 horses have a legitimate shot. I've always been partial to the Breeders' Cup sprints which often project as Highly Pressured, and favor late running horses with fast closing fractions.

An overlooked strategy on Breeders' Cup day is to focus on the undercards at the other tracks. There is a lot of amateur 'fun' money in the pools on Breeders' Cup, and it's possible to find the public making obvious betting errors in the undercards.

Here's the schedule:

The Southern California racing industry is rallying around Joy Scott, a local jockey who was injured March 12 in a training accident at Santa Anita Park. A fund has been set up through the Winners Foundation to help Scott with her medical expenses.

Scott, 53, was on a horse trained by Eric Guillot when it reared and threw her. She suffered a compound fracture to her right femur, and a subsequent infection has delayed surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in nearby Pasadena. The horse was not injured.

Anti-Gambling Group Dealt Setback in Ohio

An Ohio court has delivered a setback to an anti-gambling group seeking to challenge Gov. John Kasich’s decision to legalize slots-like video lottery terminals at Ohio’s seven horse tracks.

In a unanimous ruling March 14, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals said the Ohio Roundtable lacks legal standing and cannot proceed. The judgment upholds an earlier ruling by Franklin County Judge Timothy S. Horton.

Gulfstream Park and Calder Casino & Race Course on Thursday failed to reach an agreement on future racing dates, and as a result both are scheduled to have racing every Saturday and Sunday from July 1 through June 30, 2014.

Thursday evening was the deadline for the two tracks, just eight miles apart, to give Florida racing regulators their final list of dates for those 12 months.

DQ Soaks Beulah Park ‘Bridge Jumpers’

Sic Semper Bridge Jumpers!

DQ Soaks Beulah Park ‘Bridge Jumpers’ | BloodHorse.com
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/76502/dq-soaks-beulah-park-bridge-jumpers

So-called bridge-jumper bettors appeared home free when 2-5 favorite Paige’s Prize rolled to a 12 1/2-length victory Feb. 25 in the first race at Beulah Park (VIDEO), but moments later their anticipated small profits would vanish.

In the hours that followed, the stewards’ decision to disqualify Paige’s Prize was nearly universally panned by handicappers on social media siteseven players who said they benefited from the call. Some of those players suggested racing association stewards faced a conflict of interest because of a potential negative show pool if Paige’s Prize had won (although with net pool pricing any exposure would be difficult to determine.)
