Joe Harper, CEO and president of Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, had reason to smile Wednesday night after the coastal track opened its 75th season before a record crowd of 47,339 fans.”I think Brad McKinzie of Los Alamitos said it best,” said Harper modestly of Del Mar’s success formula. “Our opening-day marketing should be finding the key to the front gate.”
