Delaware Park cancelled its live racing program for Wednesday, July 18 due to extreme heat forcast for the region.Wednesday’s weather forecast for Wilmington, Delaware calls for a high temperature of 97 degrees, with an excessive heat warning in effect until 6 a.m. EDT Thursday. Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission Chief Veterinarian Dr. John T. Peters reccomended the cancellation, saying that racing under such conditions would pose substantial health risk to horses, riders, and participants.
