For the first time ever, The Kentucky Horse racing Commission will allow ‘slot-like’ machines at a state horse track. The commission will allow what’s called ‘instant racing.’ It’s expected to produce extra revenue, and it’s a decision Churchill Downs is paying close attention to.

Part of the thrill of horse racing is the live action, but ‘instant racing’ capitalizes on replays. Gamblers bet on old horse races without the help of knowing the horses, jockeys or trainers. Right now, it’s only used in Arkansas, but Governor Beshear has lobbied for it…
