New York’s horse racing industry has put its money on the latest meet at Saratoga Race Course to redefine its business.

It’s a high-stakes bet as key players keep sucking money out of the sport.

“What happens at Saratoga this year will be a real bellwether for how we structure our business going forward,” said Charles Hayward, president and CEO of The New York Racing Association Inc. , which manages the track.
