Interesting that on track handle increased despite bad weather for racing, yet simulcasting dropped  Prairie Meadows is go good betting venue with good betting opportunities.

On-track handle at Prairie Meadows Racetrack increased by 5.7% during its 2011 Thoroughbred meeting, which concluded on August 13. However, total handle dropped 2.7% due to declining simulcast figures.

The Altoona, Iowa, track averaged a live handle of $57,403 per race day compared with $54,321 in 2010.

Simulcast wagering on the live races declined 3.6% in 2011 to $491,200 per race day. Last year, the daily simulcast average was $563,786.
