TRENTON — It was an extraordinary showdown at the highest level of New Jersey government.
Big-money deal-makers, government lawyers and horse racing industry leaders gathered for 10 hours of sleeves-rolled-up negotiations Thursday before Gov. Chris Christie gave his blessing to the deal that will flip management of the state’s two racetracks to private businessmen.
