From pressofatlanticcity.com, a disturbing article about horse racing in New Jersey.

Again, horse racing in N.J. / Come on, it's over

This has gotten absurd. If not bizarre.

Major legislation to create a tourism district in Atlantic City is essentially being held hostage by the state's beleaguered horse-racing industry. How is this possible? Why is Atlantic City's future being linked to the state's racetracks? How does this dying industry have such clout?

It certainly can't be the merits of the horse industry's argument. After all, it goes like this: Unless the state or the casinos or someone comes up with a way to throw millions of dollars at the state's racetracks, horse racing is going to disappear in New Jersey.
