Thoroughbred Times reported on this today: Should prove to be a very interesting report on August 14th.

The Jockey Club has hired a global consulting company to conduct a comprehensive study of the current state of Thoroughbred racing and breeding and the future potential for growth in both areas.

New York-based global consulting management group McKinsey & Company will conduct the study. The Jockey Club has provided the company with a list of key individuals in the industry that can offer insight into the issues and opportunities in the sport.

The study is outlined in a letter written by Jockey Club President Jim Gagliano. According to the letter, the study will focus on economic and consumer issues as well as international opportunities for expansion and ways to increase the popularity of the sport.

The findings and recommendations of the study will be presented at The Jockey’s Club’s Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing on August 14 in Saratoga Springs, New York.
